Bog-gi Kim majored in Painting in College of Fine Arts, Seoul National University (SNU), and studied Art Theory in the Department of Aesthetics also at SNU graduate school. He joined JoongAng Ilbo in 1984, and worked as a journalist and later editor of Gyegan Misool and Wolgan Misool magazines. He founded art in culture in 1999, and is currently its publisher and chief editor. A leading figure of art journalism in Korea, Kim has published many studies on Korean art history from the Japanese colonial period to the division of the Korean peninsula, as well as the theme of diaspora in Korean art. He has also contributed many feature articles, reports and interviews by visiting more than 40 art scenes around the world to carry out field research. His career includes studying art history in Tokyo with a fellowship from Japan Foundation in 1996, and being selected as a fellow of Shinyoung Journalism Fund. Kim has published Appreciating Korean Contemporary Masterpieces, Cherishing Art works, Enjoyable Travels with Art Treasures, and the latest Critical Essays: I Want to Change the World with Art. He also lectures theories in contemporary art at Seoul National University and Sungshin Women's University. |
